Do I need an API key?

Six discovery tools require nothing at all. Nine data tools require a free API key, minted with just an email at app.olympus-bets.com/mcp/free-key — no payment method. Eight additional read-only premium tools require an eligible MCP subscription bearer token. Keys are sent as an Authorization: Bearer header, so ChatGPT and Claude.ai connectors, which cannot send one, reach only the six discovery tools. No tool has write access, and public outputs expose no member data or premium picks. Access is rate-limited for fairness.

Before you buy MCP Pro for ChatGPT: ChatGPT connectors offer only no authentication or OAuth, so they cannot send the bearer token the free-key and paid tools need. ChatGPT works for the 6 no-signup tools. Claude’s connectors have a Request headers option that accepts Authorization, but it is in limited beta; check whether your account shows it. For keyed tools today, use Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code or your own agent. OAuth support is planned.

Omit the --header flag and the 6 discovery tools still work anonymously. A keyless call to a data tool returns an [mcp_auth] message pointing at the free mint page; it is not a rate limit and nothing needs to be purchased. Full tool schemas: tools/list, or /.well-known/mcp/tools.json.

Large data tools are token-conscious by default: use detail=full only for full performance breakdowns, verbose=true only when needed, and cursor for resolved-history pagination.

The paid agent tiers

No Claude Pro or ChatGPT subscription is required for this server; your chosen client may have its own plan. The free tiers are an evaluation surface that can change, not a permanent free data utility. When your agent needs the premium layer (model-vs-market edges, pick selections, projection history), there are two bearer tiers:

MCP Pro is the full agent tier: 10,000 weighted units per month, the complete available normalized projection archive, and a filterable 90-day resolved premium-pick view. The human behind the agent gets full website Premium included. MCP Connect (1,000 units/month; today’s premium slate and matchup detail) comes bundled with any website Premium plan, so existing members already have it at no added cost. Archive start dates and model-only completeness vary by league and era. Agents can retrieve plans and checkout links in-band via get_subscription_options.

Trust and safety

Read-only. No tool writes anything anywhere. No member data is ever exposed.
Open source. The server's read-only code is public: github.com/drduda9/olympus-bets-mcp. Registry name com.olympus-bets/olympus-bets-analytics.
Premium data fails closed. Public recommendation/history tools keep premium selections masked. The eight protected tools require a valid bearer entitlement and return only customer-facing whitelisted fields.
No DNS rebinding. The upstream FastMCP runtime enforces Host validation; nginx terminates TLS and proxies through with proper headers.
Rate-limited. 30 requests per minute per IP for anonymous callers, 90/min for a validated Connect/Pro token, nginx ceiling 120/min, burst 40: enough for normal agent evaluation, and it throttles scrapers.

Each active league uses a documented simulation or rating stack, applies the calibration supported by its resolved sample, and sizes eligible picks with capped Kelly logic after empirically fitted probability shrinkage. The MCP server reads the same canonical data files the production engines write at simulation time: single source of truth, no shadow datastore.
